Vistra Energy announced after the U.S. stock market closed on Monday that its 1,268-megawatt nuclear power plant in Perry, Ohio, has received approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to extend its operating license until 2046, an increase of 20 years from the original license period. The nuclear power plant was originally built in 1986 and is currently under its initial 40-year operating license period. The company stated that it submitted a license renewal application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2023.
