According to Zhitong Finance APP, Tesla China's wholesale sales in September increased by 2.8% year-on-year, reaching 90,812 units, ending a two-month decline. Previously, its new six-seat model had begun deliveries in China. The sales of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced at Tesla's Shanghai factory (including those exported to Europe and other markets) increased by 9.2% compared to August.
Earlier, there were reports that the American automaker also saw a partial rebound in its sales in Europe this month. Tesla's electric vehicles manufactured in China also began deliveries to India last month. Tesla delivered 241,890 China-made electric vehicles in the third quarter, marking the fourth highest on record.
Globally, the electric vehicle manufacturer exceeded analysts' expectations with record quarterly deliveries, as the expiration of the electric vehicle tax credit policy in the U.S. at the end of September triggered a buying frenzy.
It launched the long-promised affordable Model Y and Model 3 models, with delivery plans set to begin in many regions between December and January. However, no delivery date for China has been provided.
To address the increasingly severe challenges in the world's largest automotive market, Tesla launched the six-seat version of the Model Y L in August—its best-selling Model Y's long-wheelbase version. Deliveries of this new model began in September
