Shin-Etsu Chemical (4063.JP) closed at 4,725 yen today (27th), down 3.7% for the day. The company announced its second-quarter results last weekend, with an operating profit of 167.1 billion yen from July to September, a year-on-year decrease of 22.1%, which was about 5 billion yen lower than market expectations, mainly due to weaker-than-expected growth in life materials and environmental materials. However, the company expects demand for 300mm wafers to rebound in the third quarter, with a strong mid-term recovery momentum, and maintains its full-year forecast at 635 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 14.4%
