To promote automation and streamline operations, Amazon (AMZN.US) subsidiary Ring has requested hundreds of customer service employees to relocate to central offices in the United States and the United Kingdom.

According to an internal company memo, employees who originally worked remotely will need to switch to working in Hawthorne, California; North Reading, Massachusetts; Tempe, Arizona; or London. Two informed sources stated that hundreds of employees must relocate to these locations to retain their positions.

The memo indicated that Ring is planning to transform its customer service department into an AI-driven support ecosystem. However, some employees who interact directly with customers and their supervisors will still be able to maintain remote work.
