Google denies ‘misleading’ reports of Gmail using your emails to train AI

Google has refuted claims that it uses Gmail messages and attachments to train AI models, stating that these reports are misleading. According to Google spokesperson Jenny Thomson, Gmail Smart Features have existed for years, and the content of emails is not used for AI training. Users are advised to check their settings, as some features may have been re-enabled without consent. Google updated its personalization settings in January, allowing independent control over features for Google Workspace and other products.
