The Secretary for Security, Tang Ping-keung, stated that after further verification, the death toll from the fire at Hong Fu Court in Tai Po has risen to 168, and all identities have been confirmed. All missing cases have also been addressed, and it is expected that the number of 168 fatalities will be the final figure. Among the deceased are one firefighter, two renovation workers, five construction workers, and ten foreign domestic helpers.

Tang Ping-keung also expressed that to respect the wishes of the victims' families, the government will not disclose the list of fire victims. He added that after the investigation is completed, a report will be submitted to the coroner, and if an inquest is required, the report submitted at that time will include the names of the victims
