
China-Canada Joint Statement: Responsible Management of Bilateral Civil Nuclear Energy and Strengthening Cooperation in Natural Uranium Trade
On January 16, a joint statement was released following a meeting between the leaders of China and Canada. It mentioned that both sides agreed to support exchanges and cooperation in the field of clean energy and to strengthen cooperation in the development of traditional energy resources such as oil and natural gas. Both sides decided to initiate a ministerial-level energy dialogue to outline key areas and provide support for bilateral investment and trade in both clean and traditional energy. Both sides are committed to responsibly managing bilateral civil nuclear energy according to the highest international standards, such as relevant documents from the International Atomic Energy Agency, and to strengthening cooperation in the trade of natural uranium.
