White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett stated that President Trump is very likely to keep him in his current position, which effectively rules out his chances of running for the next Federal Reserve chairman.

Hassett said on Fox News' "Sunday Briefing" program: "From the very beginning, he (Trump) and I have been discussing whether it is better for me to stay in the West Wing (White House) or go to the Federal Reserve. I don't think he has made a final decision yet."

"There are many excellent candidates, and the president has decided that it is best for me to be here (in the White House) for now, which is probably the right call."

He mentioned that Trump's assessment of his future left him feeling "surprised and grateful," and praised the president as "a very good person."
