Luxembourg Unemployment Stays at Nearly 5-Year High

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.2% in December 2025, unchanged from the previous month.Still, this marked the highest rate since March 2021, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 1,181 from the previous month to a record high of 21,088.Meanwhile, overall total employment declined by 2,307 to a four-month low of 299,323, with the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals dropping by 1,126 to 320,411.In terms of cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers remained unchanged at 14,046, while incoming cross-border workers decreased by 4,012 to 230,455.
