Commercial crude stocks are seen falling by 500,000 barrels to 421.9 million barrels in the week ended Jan. 16, according to the average estimate of nine analysts and traders. Five expect an increase and four predict a decline, with forecasts ranging from a build of 2 million barrels to a draw of 6.5 million barrels. Gasoline inventories are expected to have risen by 1 million barrels to 252 million barrels, with estimates ranging from a 3 million barrel increase to a 2.6 million barrel drop. Stocks of distillate fuel, mostly diesel, are expected to be down by 500,000 barrels at 128.7 million barrels, according to the survey. Forecasts range from a 2.7 million barrel drop to a 2 million barrel increase. Refinery capacity use likely fell to 94.6% from 95.3% the week before, with forecasts ranging from a 0.7 percentage point increase to a 2.4 percentage point decline. Two analysts didn't forecast refinery runs.
