Elon Musk stated that within 3 to 4 years, the annual launch volume of space AI satellites will reach 100 gigawatts, and it will take more than 10 years to reach 100 terawatts
A netizen posted on X, stating: "Musk has basically confirmed that SpaceX will go public this year and will use the funds raised to build solar-powered AI satellites, aiming to expand to hundreds of terawatts within three years." Musk replied, "No, the rough estimate (i.e., the 50th percentile forecast) is that in the next 3 to 4 years, the annual launch volume of space AI satellites launched from Earth will reach 100 gigawatts. 100 terawatts per year means large-scale manufacturing of satellites on the Moon and launching them into deep space using a device called a 'mass driver,' which will take more than 10 years to achieve. It is worth noting that the average annual electricity consumption in the United States is only 0.5 terawatts, which means that satellites equivalent to 200 times the current power generation capacity of Earth need to be launched."
