The Deputy Minister of Commerce of China and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, Ling Ji, recently hosted a roundtable meeting with British-funded enterprises. The British Trade Envoy to China, Nigel Adams, along with representatives from 30 British-funded enterprises and associations, including the China-Britain Business Council, Swire Group, HSBC, and InterContinental Hotels, attended the meeting.

Ling Ji stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the mainland will focus on expanding the opening up of the service industry and welcomes British-funded enterprises to seize the opportunities of China's independent opening up in the service sector, expanding investments in areas such as consumption, green transformation, and technological innovation. The Chinese side will work with the British side to promote cooperation in the service industry and create new growth points for the economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Nigel Adams expressed that economic and trade relations are very important to Sino-British relations, and the UK's modern industrial strategy aligns well with the mainland's "14th Five-Year Plan" recommendations, which is beneficial for both countries to expand cooperation areas.

The attending British-funded enterprises indicated that the mainland market has enormous potential, and the business environment is continuously improving. The "14th Five-Year Plan" further enhances the confidence of the UK in long-term investment and operations in China and contributes positively to the development of Sino-British economic and trade relations
