Illinois American Water has filed a request with the Illinois Commerce Commission for new rates to support approximately $577 million in investments aimed at enhancing water and wastewater systems serving over 1.3 million residents. The proposed rate changes, if approved, would result in an increase of about $14 per month for typical residential water customers and $28 for wastewater customers. The request includes measures to assist low consumption customers and is part of a broader commitment to improve water quality and infrastructure. The ICC review process will take 11 months, with potential new rates effective January 2027.
