Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Hu Jianmin: Continue to deepen cooperation with various provinces and cities in the Mainland

The Acting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Hu Jianmin, stated at the Legislative Council's Commerce and Innovation Technology Committee policy briefing that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has currently established cooperation mechanisms with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong (including Shenzhen), Zhejiang, Fujian, Hubei, Chongqing, and Sichuan to comprehensively promote cooperation in various areas including finance, trade, innovation and technology, transportation, health, culture, tourism, and education.

He indicated that efforts will continue to deepen cooperation with various provinces and cities in the mainland, expand more projects under the existing cooperation mechanisms, and explore more cooperation platforms with provinces and cities that have development potential and cooperation space, to better integrate and serve the national development agenda.

Additionally, the Director of the Hong Kong Liaison Office in Tianjin, Zheng Zhensheng, has attracted public attention for posting on social media about being arranged to sit in a private cabin on a boat and receiving a complimentary upgrade to a suite at a hotel. The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau has previously decided to terminate his contract immediately and has referred the case to law enforcement for follow-up. Hu Jianmin reiterated that personnel stationed in the mainland must comply with the guidelines, and this case will be investigated according to the disciplinary mechanism
