Ministry of Ecology and Environment: A transformative change has occurred in the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt

At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, relevant officials introduced that under the strategic guidance of "jointly promoting major protection and not engaging in major development," the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has undergone a transformative change. The proportion of good water quality in the Yangtze River Economic Belt has increased from 67% in 2015 to 96.5%, an increase of nearly 30 percentage points. Among them, the improvement in total phosphorus and ammonia nitrogen concentrations in the watershed is about twice and three times that of the Mississippi River in the United States during the same period, equivalent to the improvement of the Rhine River in Europe over nearly 30 years.
