Records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show that Rick Rieder, an executive at BlackRock who is considered a leading candidate for the next Federal Reserve Chair, has made donations to some of President Trump's major political opponents and Democratic leaders. This history could test Trump's inclination to appoint loyalists.

According to FEC data matching Rieder's name and employer information, Rieder has a long history of donations involving both major U.S. parties, including supporting Nikki Haley's presidential campaign in 2024, backing Democrats Pete Buttigieg and Cory Booker in 2020, and supporting Jeb Bush's candidacy in 2016. FEC records indicate that Rieder did not provide support to Trump during his three presidential campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2024. (Bloomberg)
