
Lin Wenjian leads a delegation to Guangzhou to attend the APEC Health Working Group meeting
Dr. Lin Wenjian, the Director of the Department of Health, led a delegation from the Department of Health to attend the Health Working Group meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Guangzhou on Sunday (1st).
At the meeting, member economies exchanged views on topics such as public health monitoring and early warning, immunization, healthy aging, and mental health, and shared applications of emerging technologies. The representatives from the Department of Health will also introduce the development direction of Hong Kong's new generation of public health monitoring technology today (2nd) to enhance the response to infectious diseases and safeguard public health and citizens' health.
Lin Wenjian stated that under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework, with the solid support of the country, the Department of Health will continue to deepen professional exchanges and cooperation with APEC members, building consensus through multilateral collaboration to jointly strengthen the public health system in the region, further play Hong Kong's role as a "super connector," and help tell the national story and the Hong Kong story well.
The APEC Health Working Group is a regional health forum dedicated to demonstrating the value of health for economic growth and development, and raising awareness of the return on investment in health innovation. The goal of the Health Working Group is to help reduce the economic, trade, and security impacts of health-related threats on member economies and to strengthen health systems, improving their efficiency, responsiveness, and resilience to achieve and maintain universal health coverage
