<div id="readability-page-1">01:52 PM EST, 02/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Wednesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 1.2% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 1.8%.The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was climbing 1%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index shed 0.3%.Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 2.9% to $65.05 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 2.9% to $69.25 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures jumped 5.2% to $3.48 per 1 million BTU.In sector news, US crude oil stocks, including those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, fell by 3.2 million barrels in the week ended Jan. 30 following a decrease of 1.8 million barrels in the previous week. Excluding inventories in the SPR, commercial crude oil stocks declined by 3.5 million barrels after a 2.3-million-barrel decline in the previous week, a larger drop than the 639,000-barrel decrease expected in a Bloomberg survey.In corporate news, Chevron ( CVX ) shares rose 1.7% after it said Wednesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Syrian Petroleum Co. and Qatar's UCC to assess offshore oil and gas exploration opportunities in Syrian waters.Shell (SHEL) is set to launch a boardroom pay policy that could give Chief Executive Wael Sawan a multimillion-pound annual boost, Sky News reported. Shell shares added 1.8%.Enphase Energy ( ENPH ) shares surged 34%. The company reported late Tuesday a slower-than-expected decline in Q4 non-GAAP net income and revenue.
