Meituan streamlined more than ten marketing activities last year, saving platform merchants over 1.62 billion yuan

Meituan (03690.HK) stated that last year it simplified and canceled more than ten merchant takeaway marketing activities, including online vouchers, early order discounts, offline subsidy vouchers, and group purchase discounts. It also addressed issues such as false discount dishes and fake gifts among merchants. These measures have covered over 2 million takeaway merchants, resulting in a reduction of more than 1.62 billion yuan (the same below) in ineffective marketing expenditures for platform merchants.

Some merchants on Meituan Waimai reported that after the marketing simplification, they saved over 100,000 yuan in marketing costs in a single month. Some merchants who were prevented from aggressive subsidies also redirected over 3 million yuan in marketing expenses towards ingredient quality control and food safety.

Looking ahead to this year, Meituan will further integrate and simplify marketing activities and rules to help merchants serve consumers more efficiently and simply, systematically reducing merchants' operating costs
