U.S. stocks rose last Friday (6th), and Hong Kong stocks followed suit today. The Hang Seng Index opened 422 points higher, at one point rising 551 points to a high of 27,111 points during the afternoon session, closing up 467 points or 1.8% at 27,027 points; the National Index rose 136 points or 1.5%, closing at 9,168 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index rose 71 points or 1.3%, closing at 5,417 points, with a total market turnover of HKD 255.142 billion for the day.

Domestic insurance stocks rose, with China Life (02628.HK) recently receiving increased holdings from Ping An (02318.HK). China Life and Ping An rose 4% and 4.9%, respectively, while China Taiping (00966.HK), PICC (01339.HK), and China Re (02328.HK) rose between 3.5% and 4%. In other financial stocks, HSBC (00005.HK), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK), AIA (01299.HK), and Standard Chartered (02888.HK) rose between 2.6% and 3.4%. The Shanghai Composite Index rose over 1% back above 4,100 points, with brokerage stock GF Securities (01776.HK) rising 2.9%. Commodity prices rebounded, with China Gold International (02099.HK), Zhaojin Mining (01818.HK), Lingbao Gold (03330.HK), and Zijin Mining (02899.HK) rising between 4.5% and 5.6%, and China Silver (00815.HK) rising 4.9%. Commodity stocks China Molybdenum (03993.HK) and Minmetals Resources (01208.HK) rose 5% and 3.4%, respectively.

Overseas tech stocks rebounded, with tech stocks generally rising. Tencent (00700.HK) and Baidu (09888.HK) rose 2.3% and 3.2%, respectively, while Alibaba (09988.HK) and NetEase (09999.HK) rose 1.9% and 1.6%, respectively, and JD.com (09618.HK) rose 0.9%. Meituan (03690.HK) fell 0.4%. Kuaishou (01024.HK) was fined nearly 120 million RMB by the Beijing Cyberspace Administration, causing its stock price to drop 2.7%. Additionally, Meitu (01357.HK), Dongfang Zhenxuan (01797.HK), JD Health (06618.HK), Xindong (02400.HK), and GDS Holdings (09698.HK) rose between 3.9% and 5%. Meitu issued a positive profit alert, expecting adjusted net profit to rise by up to 66% last year. Kingsoft Cloud (03896.HK) and China Literature (00772.HK) rose 8.5% and 9.7%, respectively. AI stocks Paradigm Intelligence (06682.HK) and Envision AESC (03696.HK) rose 4.7% and 8%, respectively, while MINIMAX (00100.HK) rose 11.7%, and Zhiyun (02513.HK) soared 36.2%.

In the chip sector, SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) rose 4.1% and 3.3%, respectively. Nexperia (02676.HK), Innoscience (02577.HK), and Bairun (06082.HK) rose over 5%. Chip developer Lattice Semiconductor (06809.HK) debuted at HKD 175, 63.4% higher than its issue price of HKD 106.89. Fiber optic cable stock Changfei Optical Fiber (06869.HK) rose 15.3% to HKD 104.7, with a turnover of HKD 3.186 billion Consumer stocks rose, with Pop Mart (09992.HK) and Lao Pu Gold (06181.HK) up 5.8% and 6.3%, respectively. Morgan Stanley recently indicated that there may still be room for Pop Mart's stock to rise from March to April, believing that this year's product design will bring more surprises. Yum China (09987.HK) and Yihai (01579.HK) rose over 3%, while the duty-free store China Duty Free Group (01880.HK) increased by 8.3%. Gaming stocks Melco International (00200.HK) and MGM China (02282.HK) rose 5.3% and 4.1%. Automotive stocks Geely (00175.HK) and BYD (01211.HK) rose 1.7% and 1.4%, while XPeng (09868.HK) and Seres (09927.HK) increased by 2.9% and 2.7%, respectively. Xiaomi (01810.HK) rose 0.1%. Autonomous driving stocks WeRide (00800.HK), Pony.ai (02026.HK), and Hesai (02525.HK) rose between 5.1% and 6.9%. Automotive parts stocks Nidec (01316.HK) and Minth Group (00425.HK) rose 6.8% and 7.5%, while Hongteng (06088.HK) surged 14.1%.

Domestic property stocks Yuexiu Property (00123.HK) and Vanke (02202.HK) rose 3.4% and 3%, respectively, while Sunac (01918.HK) increased by 6.6%. Local real estate stocks New World Development (00017.HK) rose 8%, while New World China Land (00016.HK), Sino Land (00083.HK), and Swire Properties (01972.HK) rose between 3.3% and 4.7%. Pharmaceutical stock Innovent Biologics (01801.HK) reached a global strategic cooperation with Eli Lilly, receiving a $350 million upfront payment, with its stock price rising 7.4%. Wind power stock Goldwind (02208.HK) and photovoltaic stock GCL-Poly (03800.HK) rose 6.3%, while power equipment stocks Harbin Electric (01133.HK) and Dongfang Electric (01072.HK) rose 9.3% and 14.3%, respectively
