<div id="readability-page-1">Martin Lee Ka-shing, chairman of Hong Kong’s Henderson Land Development, has taken an actress to court over allegedly defamatory remarks that suggested they had an illicit relationship, while also seeking damages from US tech giant Google and five YouTube channels for failing to remove “false” content. The 54-year-old business mogul on Friday sued Chrissie Chau Sau-na for allegedly spreading baseless and malicious rumours about their “relationship” for personal fame. “Over the past 10 years, Mr Lee has been the target of a continuous deluge of false and made-up written and video content across [the] mainstream media, major social media and video platforms spanning Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and the broader Chinese-speaking community,” Woo Kwan Lee &amp; Lo, the law firm representing Lee, said. “Mr Lee believes that all reasonable ethical and legal boundaries have been crossed, and reached a stage where a reasonable person like Mr Lee could no longer tolerate.”  The statement said Chau fabricated the “special relationship” with Lee in media interviews while she was promoting a film in 2016. Hong Kong and mainland media, as well as various social media platforms, then continued to report on the claimed relationship, suggesting Chau was dating a “super-rich second generation” and associating the person with Lee in headlines. During an interview with a YouTube channel run by former journalist Akina Fong in June last year, Chau was asked to respond to the rumours about her and a mogul – implied to be Lee. Chau said she did not know Lee and did not know how the rumour had persisted for years. The law firm said the interview was a “carefully orchestrated dialogue” and Chau had “deliberately planned to discuss and revisit rumours” about the pair. The video was posted online a month after Lee’s father, company founder Lee Shau-kee, died. “These false accusations have cruelly extended to Mr Lee’s wife and parents compounding the profound grief of losing their father, and therefore have the effect of rubbing salt into their wounds,” the law firm said. The video, among others in the past, was carried on YouTube. The statement said Lee’s lawyers had requested Google to take down the video, but it had failed to take any action. Besides naming Chau as the defendant, Lee also filed separate claims targeting Google and the relevant YouTube channels.</div>
