
Africa Stock Market Closing Report | South African Stock Market Rises Over 2.7%, Mining Stocks Lead
On Wednesday (February 18), the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Leading 40 Index closed up 2.74%, approaching 114,500 points.
Component stock Glencore (GLN.SJ) rose 6.39%, as Impala Platinum Holdings (IMP) increased by 6.30%, Valterra Platinum rose 5.41%, Anglo American (AGL) gained 5.23%, Harmony Gold Mining (HAR) was up 4.59%, Sasol (SOL) increased by 4.37%, AngloGold Ashanti (ANG) rose 4.20%, and Northam Platinum was up 3.45%, ranking eighth.
Spot gold once rose more than 2.5%, hitting a daily high of $5,008.98 per ounce
