The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Sun Yuhan, responded in writing to a legislator's question, stating that according to the results of the "Comprehensive Household Survey" conducted by the Census and Statistics Department, the overall unemployment number for youths aged 15 to 39, excluding foreign domestic workers, was 61,200 in the fourth quarter of last year, with an unemployment rate of 4.8%.

He mentioned that the government is very concerned about youth employment, with the number of participants in the "Youth Employment Program" for the 2024/2025 fiscal year reaching 4,059, an increase of 43% compared to the previous program year. Additionally, the government also supports youth entrepreneurship, with the first round of the Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base Experience Subsidy Program featuring 12 experiential projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, benefiting approximately 300 youths; the new round of experience programs will expand the scope from the Greater Bay Area to other provinces and cities in the mainland, with 18 experiential projects held since last year, providing about 600 places
