Schroders has a positive outlook on the mainland and Hong Kong stock markets this year
Zhang Jingbao, the Director of Equity Investments for Schroders in the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan), stated that the outlook for the mainland and Hong Kong stock markets this year is positive. Supporting factors include the continued weakening of the US dollar, lower interest rates in the mainland, and reasonable valuation levels. Stock selection will focus on companies with strong earnings performance.
She pointed out that she is optimistic about the healthcare and precious metals sectors. Healthcare stocks can benefit from ample liquidity and government support for innovative drugs, with a preference for industry leaders and companies whose innovative drugs are already in the later stages of the pipeline.
Additionally, Schroders has been re-evaluating commercial property loans in Hong Kong since the end of last year. Yu Xueyu, the CEO of Schroders Investment in Hong Kong, believes that the Hong Kong commercial real estate market is in the process of bottoming out, depending on the overall performance of the Hong Kong economy
