European stocks rose in early trading, with the pan-European index and the UK stock market reaching new highs, while the Italian stock market also hit a peak not seen in over 25 years. Commodity and telecommunications stocks saw significant gains.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose by 2.66 points or 0.42% to 635.84 points, reaching a new high of 636.16 points during the session; the UK FTSE 100 index increased by 60 points or 0.6% to 10,907 points, with an intraday high of 10,912 points; the French CAC 40 index rose by 16 points or 0.2% to 8,637 points; the German DAX index increased by 87 points or 0.4% to 25,376 points; the Spanish IBEX 35 index rose by 59 points or 0.3% to 18,556 points; the Italian FTSE MIB index increased by 171 points or 0.4% to 47,597 points, reaching a new high of 47,648 points, the highest in over 25 years.

In terms of individual stocks, commodity stocks performed well, with silver miner Fresnillo and copper miner Antofagasta rising by 3.7% and 2.4%, respectively, while Anglo American rose by 2.6%. Telecommunications stocks also performed well, with Telefónica and Deutsche Telekom rising by 3.8% and 2.4%, respectively. The food delivery platform Delivery Hero reported a gross transaction value slightly below market expectations for last year, causing its stock price to drop by 5.2%.

In U.S. stock futures, the Dow futures fell by 212 points or 0.4% to 49,319 points; the S&P 500 futures dropped by 14 points or 0.2% to 6,905 points; the Nasdaq 100 futures decreased by 22 points or less than 0.1% to 25,058 points.

In the Asia-Pacific stock markets, the Shanghai and Hong Kong stocks rose by 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively, while Shenzhen stocks fell by less than 0.1%, and the Taiwan stock market was closed. Japanese stocks rose by 0.2%, South Korean stocks fell by 1%, while Australian and New Zealand stocks increased by 0.3% and 0.4%, respectively.
