Boeing has a carbon emissions problem. Startup Charm Industrial is cleaning up.
Boeing has partnered with startup Charm Industrial to remove 100,000 metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere. Charm uses agricultural and forestry waste to create "bio-oil," which is injected underground for carbon sequestration. This deal highlights the aviation industry's search for alternatives to reduce carbon emissions, with carbon removal emerging as a cost-effective option. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Charm aims to reduce carbon removal costs to $50 per metric ton.
