Germany – Push to stop offshore tenders

The German Association of Energy & Water Industries (BDEW) and other industry bodies are urging a postponement of the onshore wind tender process until the end of 2026, following a failed tender round for 2.5GW capacity in the North Sea. They express concerns over declining bidder interest and fear that continued unsuccessful rounds could deter potential investors. The groups also advocate for reforms, including bilateral contracts for difference and extended completion deadlines for wind farms, to enhance investment conditions in offshore wind energy.
