1. The European Commission announced that it has decided to impose temporary anti-subsidy duties on imported electric cars from China. The temporary tariffs apply to Chinese manufacturers such as BYD and Geely, with rates ranging from 17.4% to 37.6%. The temporary tariffs will take effect on July 5, 2024, and will last for up to four months. If anti-subsidy measures are voted through by EU member states, the EU will impose a formal anti-subsidy duty on Chinese electric cars for a period of 5 years.
