Macau Unemployment Rate Ticks Up to 1.8% in December

The unemployment rate in Macau rose to 1.8% in December 2025, up from 1.7% in the previous two months. The number of unemployed increased by 100 to 6,800, while total employment grew by 400 to 379,300. Job gains were noted in gaming, wholesale and retail trade, hotels, and restaurants, but the construction sector lost jobs. The labor force participation rate remained at 67.2%, with a slight decrease in the male participation rate to 69.2%.
