A Dutch court is set to hear a control dispute between chipmaker Nexperia and its Chinese owner Wingtech. The conflict escalated after the Dutch government seized control of Nexperia due to concerns over operations being transferred to China. Nexperia's European executives are seeking an investigation into alleged mismanagement by Wingtech. The court previously suspended Wingtech's CEO, citing conflicts of interest. Wingtech argues that its strategy is essential for tapping into China's car market. Nexperia is now splitting into two companies as it seeks alternative chip suppliers and plans to enhance packaging capacity in Malaysia.

Wingtech has appealed to the Netherlands' Supreme Court against decisions stripping it of control over Nexperia, citing Dutch state influence and lack of input. The dispute began when the Dutch government seized control of Nexperia, affecting chip production crucial for the auto industry. Wingtech argues the decisions were improper and made without hearing its arguments. The Supreme Court's ruling is awaited, while chip shortages continue to impact the industry.
Wingtech, the Chinese owner of Dutch chipmaker Nexperia, urged the Dutch government to withdraw from a court case alleging mismanagement at Nexperia. This follows the suspension of a state intervention at Nexperia, which has caused disputes and increased tensions between its European and Chinese operations. The state remains involved in a related case that led to the removal of Nexperia’s former CEO and Wingtech founder Zhang Xuezheng, a move Wingtech opposes.
