China stocks largely flat as gains in communication sector offset property losses
Mainland China stocks were largely flat on Tuesday, with the Shanghai Composite Index down 0.02% and the CSI300 Index up 0.02%. Gains in the communications sector, particularly in media stocks due to ByteDance's AI model, offset losses in property shares, which fell by 1.61%. Trading is expected to thin ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.54%. Investors are awaiting economic data, including January credit lending figures, as a Reuters poll suggests new loans may rise.
