The Democratic Republic of the Congo's copper exports grew by nearly 10% last year, becoming the world's second-largest producer of industrial metals. Copper shipments increased from 3.1 million tons to 3.4 million tons, primarily produced by Chinese companies. CMOC owns the country's first and third largest mining areas, with the TFM mine and KFM mine producing 519,000 tons and 228,000 tons of copper, respectively. The Kamoa-Kakula copper mine, built as a joint venture between Canada and China, produced 400,000 tons last year. The growth rate of copper production in the Congo is the fastest in the world and is expected to become a global leader
