In 2025, China's electricity output and clean energy technology exports reached record highs, while LNG and coal imports declined significantly. LNG imports fell by 15% to 66.6 million metric tons, and thermal coal imports dropped by 11% to 308 million tons. Clean electricity generation surged by 15.4%, driven by a 43% increase in solar and a 14% rise in wind energy. Crude oil imports rose slightly by 1.1% to 3.75 billion barrels, as stockpiling resumed. Clean tech exports soared over 20% to $222 billion, with batteries and EVs being the top earners.
