The holiday period allowed for a nine-day break, with the festive season coinciding with Valentine’s Day in 2026. Local florists reported weaker business due to overlapping celebrations, while restaurants experienced good bookings for reunion dinners, despite a slight decline on Lunar New Year’s Eve. Prices for family dinners rose by about 5%, reflecting increased demand.

- During the three days before the Lunar New Year, Hong Kong residents took approximately 1.39 million outbound trips, a 21.6% increase from last year, while inbound trips slightly rose to over 551,000.

According to the latest data on the Hong Kong Interbank Offered Rate (HIBOR) released by the Hong Kong Association of Banks, the overnight interbank rate rose to 2.9 cents, reaching a one-month high; while the one-month interbank rate related to mortgage rates fell to 2.45792 cents, hitting a one-month low. Other interest rates include the one-week interbank rate at 2.49393 cents, the three-month interbank rate at 2.67887 cents, the six-month interbank rate at 2.82012 cents, and the twelve-month interbank rate at 2.90494 cents
